Gallotti&Radice presents Luce Solida installation at Art Basel
08/02/2019
From 6 to 9 December, Gallotti & Radice participated in the international art exhibition Art Basel in Miami (USA).
Every year, the exhibition brings over 200 of the most important international modern and contemporary art galleries to showcase the works of more than 4,000 artists, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film, video and digital art. During this important event visitors encounter many different oeuvre, ranging from works by budding young artists to veritable masterpieces worthy of museum collections.
And it is precisely at this year's Art Basel that Gallotti & Radice decided to create something evocative and very special to showcase in their Miami flagship store.
Its name is Luce Solida, an artistic installation by designer Pietro Russo that had been unveiled for the first time at the Milan Design Week and had garnered much critical acclaim.
On the strength of this result, the installation was later showcased in the UK for the London Design Festival 2018, replicating the success achieved at the Salone del Mobile.
In the wake of this continuous approval by the public, the decision was made to bring Luce Solida for the first time to the US, exclusively accompanied by the designer.
Russo's site-specific installation originated by the desire to create an innovative and futuristic design yet honour the brand's origins.
The outcome is a unique sensory experience intended to evoke a feeling of poetic disorientation in which visitors can explore the space to the accompaniment of sound effects composed by the designer. Approaching the installation as both a designer and a scenographer, Russo explores the relation of objects to light and sound.
The result is undoubtedly surprising and is expressed in an evocative dialogue between the space and the avant-garde pieces designed for Gallotti&Radice in the course of their ongoing collaboration.
This is so much more than a simple exhibition; indeed, it is almost a "journey" undertaken by the senses, giving visitors the chance to explore the bright furnishings of G&R from a completely different perspective.
