The Saarinen Table, also known as Tulip, owes its name to its designer Eero Saarinen who in 1957 created a table that soon became an icon of the design world. The Tulip collection consists of different furnishing elements: Dining Table, Coffee Table, Side Tables and Tulip Chairs. All these pieces are characterized by their base composed of a single leg, thin and slender, which rises like the stem of a flower, welcoming the table top. Eero Saarinen vowed to address the "ugly, confusing, unrestful world" he observed underneath chairs and tables - the so-called "slum of legs" which is what led him, after a five-year design investigation, to roll out the revolutionary Pedestal Collection, introduced in 1958.
The success of Knoll's Tulip Table, considered a true work of art, is due to its timeless style in which classic and modern styles are blended. This feature makes it extremely versatile, in fact it can be inserted in any living environment thanks to the different shapes, sizes and finishes available.
The base is in heavy moulded cast aluminium available in white, gray or black. The oval or round top is available in satin smooth laminate, lacquer, acrylic stone, marble or veneer.
The Knoll marble catalog consists of: Arabescato Marble, Gray Marble, Calacatta Marble, Carrara Marble, Nero Marquina Marble, Grigio Marquina Marble, Espresso Marble, Portoro Marble
